Developing and implementing their collaboration to provide an effective framework for international cooperation in the field of human rights, Sant’Anna School in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized a five-day training program on the rule of law and human rights protection targeting a group of judges and magistrates. The first training session kicked off on April 29, 2018, in Sudan, with the support of the Peace Research Institute – Khartoum.

Andrea de Guttry, professor of International Law at Sant’Anna School Dirpolis Institute (Law, Politics, Development), has coordinated this training course aimed at enhancing the capacities of the judges and legal practitioners to manage international and regional human rights instruments for a fair trial in civil and criminal proceedings.

This program, as the training course held in Cameroon in 2017 for 50 judges and magistrates, offers a contribution to human rights protection in Sudan where non-governmental organizations have investigated alleged human rights violations and ethnic crimes.

Through lessons learned technique and best practices, Professor Andrea de Guttry teaches the course providing guidance on transitional justice and promoting the rule of law by ensuring accountability and reinforcing norms.
